Silent Screams

When one person decides to hurt another, it impacts the entire community. Family, children, schools, hospitals, first responders. Everyone suffers. We are someone or we know someone who has been impacted with family and domestic violence and as someone who has been impacted as well, I wanted to bring a voice to those who are silent in their screams. I reached out and asked for participants who had the choice to remain anonymous as well as I contacted Families First in Ft. Saskatchewan to set up a meeting to see if there was interest in putting together a storytelling and photo exhibit based on stories from family violence. They were more than happy to collaborate and a working relationship with FF for the next 3 years was born. I put together several projects for Families First as well as the City of Ft. Saskatchewan and the Victim Services department. I listened to first responders and community members and created several different photo and storytelling exhibits showcasing the ripple effect of Domestic and Family violence in the community. These exhibits were shown at Ft Sask. City Hall as well as Edmonton City Hall and the Dow centre.
